OUR HISTORY
DMF Attorneys, a long-established practice, entered a new era under a strong all-female leadership team in 2023.
The firm dates back to 1972 when Morris Fuller began a practice focusing on property law in Westville. Over the years the firm merged with other practices, changed names and broadened its scope of work, opening up opportunities for a new generation of attorneys – among them the current directors – who joined in 2015.
They have taken the firm to new heights with the support of a motivated team of carefully selected, highly skilled individuals, while retaining the strong family ethos that has characterised the firm throughout its evolution.
The professional team of attorneys includes Chantele Schutzler (Managing Director), Thulisiwe Ngcobo (HR Director), Samantha Van Rooyen (Director, Conveyancer and Notary Public), Jarrod Robert, Kimera Govender, Thabiso Mokoena and Daniela Montague (Consultant).
They are backed by experienced paralegals and support staff – some of whom have been with the firm for 20 to 40 years.
Today DMF’s services include commercial law, criminal law, debt collections, estate planning (Wills) and administration of deceased estates, family law, litigation, property bonds and transfers, sectional title, licenses and liquidations, as well as arbitration and mediation.
DMF has also grown to become one of Legal Serve’s top agents serving in seven court jurisdictions.
OUR APPROACH
Our approach is founded on three principles:
Firstly, to achieve constructive cost effective solutions;
Secondly, to build sound and lasting personal relationships with our clients;
Thirdly, a commitment to on-going education and self- improvement.
Our professional staff involve themselves in areas allied to legal practice to broaden their perspectives and to achieve sound optimum solutions for our clients.
It is a current trend to seek a “specialist” to assist with legal problems. While certain areas of the law do require specialization, being the areas in which we have concentrated our skill and expertise, the overriding principle of sound common sense legal advice remains of universal application. Should you instruct us in a matter which we regard as requiring further specialized advice, we will certainly enlist the assistance of a specialist. This need not necessarily be another lawyer (advocate) and could be e.g. an accountant or forensic auditor.
SUMMARY
The law impacts on virtually all aspects of our daily lives, from building a house to buying a hamburger from a franchised fast food outlet i.e. construction law or franchise law.
While we may not have mentioned each and every aspect of the law, our practice can advise you in all areas of the law. We have set out in broad outline those areas of the practice of particular specialisation, but we would welcome the opportunity to be of assistance to you on all matters.
Our success derives from rapid and effective response, and our aim is to constantly enhance our services.
