“When my husband passed away suddenly, there was a lot to deal with in the midst of the sadness.  His financial affairs were not all in perfect order and the thought of having to figure out what needed to be done was daunting.

Luckily he had a Will and had appointed DMF as his executor. Sharon Mowat from DMF appeared at my side like an angel, guiding me every step of the way on what documents to look for in what our family jokingly referred to as Stu’s ‘piling system’. Working systematically, Sharon and her team  ascertained which of his policies were still in place, what his liabilities were and brought in a tax consultant to complete outstanding tax returns.  Sharon kept me posted and would appear discreetly at my office whenever documents needed my signature.  The process and quiet professionalism of the DMF team put me completely at ease, leaving me to adapt to my new situation and focus on happier memories, without the stress of winding up the estate.

Twenty-seven years earlier, Mike Williams, had helped Stu and I, when Stu’s business had gone into liquidation. I had signed a surety (something my father had always advised his children not to do) and Mike stepped in to negotiate with the creditor who was hounding me for payment. I remember him asking me to work out a budget to see what we could afford to pay monthly. I was so desperate to get the creditor off my back that I was willing for us to live off bread and water. Mike revised my budget so that we could live sensibly while paying off the debt.  He was understanding and not in the least bit judgmental, which was extremely supportive at a time when we were struggling to keep a roof over the heads of our young family. I will always remember his kindness and down to earth approach.”
